About Us

Saxon Durrant started Metroretro in 1994 selling vintage design classics such as Anglepoise lamps and Bakelite telephones in London’s Camden Market. This later expanded into industrial and Mid-Century furniture, selling from two shops in nearby Islington.

By 2001 the business had started to find work with architects and designers sourcing furniture and fittings for bars and restaurants as well as visual merchandisers looking for eye catching retail display fixtures and unusual window props.
Around this time a range of furniture was launched which incorporated steel and reclaimed timber. This complimented and supplemented the vintage stock and increased the offering for private and commercial customers alike.
In the 21st century, the business continues to offer a mix of original vintage pieces and bespoke handmade furniture, operating from a farm in Little Leighs Essex.
